This vibrant Green Goddess Dressing is a creamy, herb-packed sauce made with fresh cilantro, parsley, basil, and tarragon blended with sour cream or Greek yogurt, mayo, lemon juice, and a touch of Worcestershire sauce. Perfect as a salad dressing, dip, or accompaniment to grilled vegetables and proteins, it offers a bright, tangy flavor with a hint of spice.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 16 servings

Ingredients

Herbs

  • 1/4 cup loosely packed fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 cup loosely packed fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup loosely packed fresh basil
  • 1/4 cup loosely packed fresh tarragon
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives

Dressing Base

  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

Flavorings

  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 small pinch cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce (optional)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Add the sour cream or Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, fresh herbs (cilantro, parsley, basil, tarragon, chives), lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, cayenne pepper or hot sauce if using, and salt and pepper to the bowl of a food processor.
  2. Process Until Smooth: Blend all the ingredients on high speed until the dressing is smooth and creamy, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure even mixing.
  3. Taste and Adjust Seasoning: Taste the dressing and add additional salt, pepper, or lemon juice as needed according to your preference for flavor balance.
  4. Serve or Chill: Serve the dressing immediately or transfer it to an airtight container and chill it in the refrigerator for at least an hour to allow flavors to meld. It can be stored for a few days chilled.

Notes

  • This dressing can be made with sour cream or Greek yogurt depending on your preference for tanginess and texture.
  • If you prefer a thinner dressing, add a tablespoon or two of water or milk to adjust consistency.
  • The pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce is optional but adds a subtle heat to balance the creamy herbs.
  • Store leftover dressing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
  • For a vegan version, substitute the sour cream and mayo with plant-based alternatives and omit Worcestershire sauce or use a vegan version.
