Ingredients
Chai Tea Base
- 2 chai teabags
- 2/3 cup water
Sweeteners and Flavorings
- 4 tablespoons maple syrup (or to taste)
- 2 tablespoons sugar (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Milk and Cream
- 2 cups non-dairy milk (such as almond, oat, or soy milk)
- 4 tablespoons vegan creamer (optional)
Ice and Toppings
- 2 cups ice
- Vegan whipped cream (for topping)
- Cinnamon (for garnish)
Instructions
- Steep the Chai Tea: Heat 2/3 cup of water in a small pot over high heat until boiling. Remove from heat and add 2 chai teabags, steeping for 5-10 minutes until the liquid is dark brown and flavorful. For convenience, you can prepare this step in advance and chill the chai tea in the refrigerator.
- Prepare the Ice: Add 2 cups of ice into a blender and pulse gradually until the ice is broken into smaller pieces but not completely pulverized. This helps achieve a smooth, frosty texture.
- Blend the Frappuccino: Pour the steeped chai tea into the blender with the crushed ice. Add 4 tablespoons of maple syrup, 2 tablespoons of sugar, 2 cups of non-dairy milk, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 4 tablespoons of vegan creamer if using. Blend on high until the mixture is smooth and creamy. If ice clumps stick to the sides, pause blending to scrape down the sides, then continue blending on low speed until no clumps remain.
- Serve and Garnish: Pour the blended chai frappuccino into tall glasses. Top with vegan whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon for an extra touch of flavor and presentation. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of maple syrup and sugar according to taste.
- For a stronger chai flavor, steep the tea bags longer or add an additional tea bag.
- Non-dairy milk options like oat, almond, or soy milk work well; choose your preferred type for different flavor profiles.
- If you want a richer texture, use vegan creamer, but it is optional.
- Prepare the chai tea in advance and chill it to save time and enhance the coldness of the frappuccino.
- For a spicier touch, sprinkle a pinch of ground ginger or nutmeg on top along with cinnamon.
