Ingredients
Colored Jello Cubes
- 4 (3-ounce) boxes Jello gelatin (blue, orange, red, and green flavors)
- 4 cups boiling water
White Gelatin Mixture
- 2 (0.25-ounce) envelopes unflavored gelatin
- 2 cups hot water
- 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Make Jello: In four small containers, dissolve one packet of each color Jello with 1 cup boiling water. Pour the mixture so that it is about 1 inch or less in depth in each container. Chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours or until fully set.
- Slice Jello into cubes: Once the colored Jello has set, carefully remove them and slice into small cubes. Place the cubes randomly in a 9×13 inch dish, distributing the colors evenly. Refrigerate the dish while you prepare the white gelatin mixture.
- Prepare white gelatin mixture: In a heatproof bowl, dissolve the unflavored gelatin envelopes into 2 cups of very hot water, stirring until fully dissolved. Add the sweetened condensed milk, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract, and stir until well combined. Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature to prevent melting the colored Jello cubes when added.
- Combine: Remove the dish with the colored Jello cubes from the refrigerator and gently pour the cooled white gelatin mixture evenly over the cubes. Transfer the dish back to the refrigerator and chill overnight or until completely set and firm.
- Slice and serve: Once the gelatin is fully set, cut into squares or fun shapes. Serve chilled as a colorful, refreshing dessert.
Notes
- Ensure the white gelatin mixture is cooled to room temperature before pouring over the Jello cubes to prevent melting.
- You can use any combination of Jello flavors and colors to customize the look of the stained glass effect.
- Chilling the jelly overnight ensures it sets firmly for clean slicing.
- Use a sharp knife warmed in hot water for easier slicing of the gelatin.
- This dessert is best served chilled and consumed within 3 days.
