Ingredients
Shrimp and Marinade
- 2 lb raw jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 6 tablespoons butter or olive oil
- ½ teaspoon sea salt, or to taste
- ½ teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 9 cloves garlic, minced or finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 2 teaspoons chili flakes, or to taste
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- ¼ cup white wine
- 2 tablespoons cilantro, finely chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat the fat. Place butter or olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat to melt and warm, creating the base for your flavorful sauce.
- Sauté the aromatics and spices. Add minced garlic, onion powder, paprika, chili flakes, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly to release the spices’ aromas without burning the garlic.
- Cook the shrimp. Add the shrimp to the skillet and stir them into the spice mixture. Cook until the shrimp start turning pink, indicating they’re beginning to cook through, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add lemon and wine. Pour in the freshly squeezed lemon juice and white wine, then stir to combine. Let this simmer for 2-3 minutes to allow the shrimp to fully cook while infusing with the tangy and acidic flavors.
- Finish cooking and coat shrimp. Continue stirring occasionally until the shrimp are fully opaque and coated evenly in the flavorful sauce.
- Garnish and serve. Turn off the heat and sprinkle chopped cilantro over the shrimp. Serve immediately with your choice of rice, pasta, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
- Optional pairing. Consider serving with an Avocado Cucumber Salad or a refreshing Iced Tea Lemonade to complement the zesty and spicy shrimp flavors.
Notes
- You can substitute olive oil for butter for a lighter option.
- Adjust chili flakes according to your heat preference.
- Ensure shrimp are peeled and deveined for the best texture and flavor.
- If you prefer, use dry white wine for a deeper flavor or substitute with chicken broth if avoiding alcohol.
- Serve immediately to enjoy shrimp at their best texture.
- Pair the shrimp with rice, pasta, or salad to balance flavors and create a satisfying meal.
