Ingredients
Beverages and Tea
- 1/2 cup chamomile tea
- 1 cup tart cherry juice
- 1/4 cup apple juice or apple cider (optional)
- 1 bottle sparkling water (approximately 12 oz)
Flavoring
- 1/4 inch fresh ginger
- Optional: rosemary for garnish
Instructions
- Steep Chamomile Tea: Brew 1/2 cup of chamomile tea and allow it to steep thoroughly to extract soothing flavors.
- Simmer Ingredients: In a small saucepan, combine tart cherry juice, brewed chamomile tea, apple juice or cider if using, and the 1/4 inch piece of fresh ginger. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to a low simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Cool Mixture: Remove the ginger piece and allow the mixture to cool down. You can also serve it warm if preferred, especially in cooler weather.
- Prepare to Serve: When ready to serve, pour the mixture into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake well, or alternatively, pour the mixture over ice directly into serving cups.
- Add Sparkling Water: If using cups, top each serving with about 1/4 cup of sparkling water or fill the cup up if desired. If using a shaker, strain the shaken mixture evenly into two martini glasses and top each with a splash of sparkling water.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish the drinks with rosemary sprigs or an additional piece of ginger for an aromatic touch and serve immediately.
Notes
- Apple juice is optional and can be omitted if you prefer a less sweet mocktail.
- The ginger adds a slight spicy warmth—adjust the amount to taste or omit if sensitive to spice.
- This mocktail can be served warm or chilled depending on your preference or season.
- Using fresh rosemary as garnish adds a fragrant herbal note that complements the tart cherry well.
- To make the drink more effervescent, add sparkling water just before serving to maintain fizz.
