This Shrimp Boil recipe is a simple, flavorful dinner featuring tender baby potatoes, sweet corn, smoky andouille sausage, and succulent shrimp tossed in a garlicky Old Bay butter sauce and baked to perfection. Perfect for a quick and delicious seafood feast.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Vegetables

  • 16 oz baby potatoes, cut into halves or equal sized pieces
  • 4 ears of corn, each cut into 6-7 pieces
  • 2 lemons, cut into wedges

Proteins

  • 1 lb extra large shrimp, raw with tail on
  • 1 lb smoked andouille sausage, cut into similar sized pieces

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp Old Bay Seasoning

Instructions

  1. Boil Potatoes: In a large pot, boil the baby potatoes in water for 5-10 minutes until they start to become tender but not fully cooked.
  2. Add Corn and Finish Boiling: Add the pieces of corn to the pot with the potatoes, continuing to boil for approximately 5 more minutes until the potatoes are done and corn is tender.
  3. Drain Vegetables: Drain the water and transfer the boiled potatoes and corn into a large mixing bowl.
  4. Prepare Shrimp and Sausage: Clean the shrimp by removing any residual shells if needed and pat them dry. Add the shrimp along with the sliced andouille sausage to the bowl with potatoes and corn.
  5. Make Butter Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter with the minced garlic and Old Bay seasoning, mixing thoroughly to infuse the flavors.
  6. Toss Ingredients: Pour the garlic butter mixture over the shrimp, sausage, potatoes, and corn in the large bowl, tossing well to coat everything evenly.
  7. Bake Shrimp Boil: Transfer the entire mixture onto a large baking sheet, spreading it out evenly. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (204°C) for about 15 minutes, until the shrimp are fully cooked and opaque.
  8. Serve: Remove from oven and serve hot with lemon wedges for squeezing over the dish, enhancing the flavor with a bright citrus finish.

Notes

  • Ensure shrimp are cooked thoroughly; they should be opaque and firm.
  • Adjust Old Bay seasoning to taste if you prefer more or less spice.
  • Use fresh corn and quality smoked sausage for best flavor.
  • You can substitute baby potatoes with red or Yukon gold potatoes cut to similar size.
  • Butter can be substituted with olive oil for a lighter version, though it will alter the flavor.
