Ingredients
Sweet Potatoes
- 2 large sweet potatoes
Seasoning
- 1-2 tbsp olive oil (for drizzling)
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare it for roasting the sweet potato slices.
- Prepare the sweet potatoes: Rinse and clean the sweet potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt or residue.
- Slice the sweet potatoes: Cut the sweet potatoes into rings approximately one-third of an inch thick to ensure even roasting.
- Prepare the baking sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. If using aluminum foil and not coating the sweet potatoes directly with olive oil, spray the foil with a non-stick spray.
- Coat the slices: Place the sweet potato slices into a bowl and drizzle with 1 to 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Toss to evenly coat all slices.
- Season: Add salt and pepper to taste, then toss again to distribute the seasoning across all slices.
- Arrange on the baking sheet: Lay the sweet potato slices flat on the prepared baking tray, leaving a small space between each slice for even roasting. Use a second tray if necessary.
- Roast the first side: Put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes to begin the roasting process.
- Flip the slices: Carefully flip each sweet potato slice to expose the other side for roasting.
- Roast the other side: Continue baking until the slices are crisped and roasted to your desired level, usually taking an additional 10 to 15 minutes.
- Cool the slices: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the roasted sweet potato slices cool for 5 minutes to firm up.
- Serve: Serve the roasted sweet potato slices warm and enjoy their sweet, crispy flavor.
Notes
- Ensure the sweet potato slices are evenly coated with oil to prevent sticking and promote crispness.
- Adjust salt and pepper seasoning according to your taste preferences.
- You can add additional spices such as paprika, garlic powder, or cinnamon for varied flavors.
- If you prefer extra crispy slices, bake a little longer while keeping a close eye to avoid burning.
- Using parchment paper instead of foil reduces the need for additional oil or non-stick spray.
