Ingredients
Blue Layer
- 1 (3 ounce) box Blue Raspberry Jell-O
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup clear liquor (Titos or Raspberry flavored recommended)
Red Layer
- 1 (3 ounce) box Strawberry Jell-O
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup clear liquor (Titos or Raspberry flavored recommended)
Toppings
- Whipped Cream (could also use cool whip or dairy free whipped cream)
- Red and blue sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare the blue jello: Bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Place the Blue Raspberry Jell-O packet in a glass bowl, then carefully pour the boiling water over it. Stir thoroughly until the gelatin is completely dissolved.
- Mix and pour blue jello: Add 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup clear liquor to the dissolved blue jello mixture and stir to combine. Arrange 20-24 2-ounce plastic cups on a sheet pan for easy transfer. Fill each cup halfway (1 ounce) with the blue jello mixture using a spoon, cup with a lip, or syringe.
- Set the blue layer: Place the filled cups on the tray into the refrigerator and chill for about 2 hours or until the blue jello layer is fully set.
- Prepare the red jello: Repeat the process by bringing 1 cup of water to a boil, placing the Strawberry Jell-O packet in a glass bowl, pouring the boiling water over it, and stirring until dissolved.
- Mix and pour red jello: Add 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup clear liquor to the dissolved strawberry jello mixture and stir well. Carefully fill each cup on top of the blue jello layer with this red jello mixture to fill the cups completely.
- Set the red layer: Return the cups to the refrigerator and chill for an additional 2 hours or until the red jello layer is fully set.
- Add toppings before serving: Just before serving, top each jello shot with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle generously with red and blue sprinkles for a festive look and extra flavor.
Notes
- For best results, use clear liquor like Tito’s vodka or a raspberry-flavored spirit to maintain the vibrant color and bright flavor.
- If you prefer, substitute whipped cream with cool whip or any dairy-free whipped topping to accommodate dietary restrictions.
- Use a syringe or a cup with a spout to fill the small cups cleanly without spilling.
- These jello shots must be kept refrigerated and are best consumed within 24-48 hours for optimal freshness.
- Adjust the amount of liquor according to your preferred strength, but keep in mind it may affect the jello’s set time.
