This Protein Apple Smoothie is a nutritious and delicious blend perfect for a quick breakfast or post-workout snack. Combining the natural sweetness of Fuji apples and bananas with the rich flavor of vanilla protein powder and almond butter, it offers a creamy texture and balanced nutrition. Enhanced with apple pie spice and a touch of salt, this smoothie is both flavorful and satisfying.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 1/2 cup sliced banana (preferably frozen)
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped Fuji apple

Liquids

  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or milk of choice)

Protein & Fats

  • 5 tablespoons vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter

Spices & Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Other

  • 8 ice cubes
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prepare: If you don’t have pre-frozen sliced banana, peel a banana and slice it into coins. Place these slices in a sealed bag and freeze them until solid. This step is best done the night before to ensure a creamy and chilled smoothie.
  2. Blend: In a high-powered blender, combine the frozen banana slices, chopped Fuji apple, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, vanilla protein powder, almond butter, apple pie spice, salt, and ice cubes. Blend on high for 90 to 120 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
  3. Test: Before serving, taste the smoothie. Depending on the sweetness level of your protein powder, you may want to add a sweetener such as honey, maple syrup, or a sugar substitute to suit your preference.
  4. Serve: Pour the smoothie into a cup or glasses and enjoy immediately for the best taste and texture. For an optional treat, add a dollop of whipped cream on top and sprinkle a little extra apple pie spice for garnish.

Notes

  • Vanilla protein powder provides flavor and essential protein; adjust quantity based on your protein needs.
  • Almond butter adds healthy fats and a creamy texture, but can be substituted with peanut butter or omitted for nut-free versions.
  • Apple pie spice enhances the flavor with cinnamon, nutmeg, and other warm spices; you can substitute with ground cinnamon if needed.
  • Sweetness can be adjusted to taste since protein powders vary in sugar content; consider adding a natural sweetener if desired.
