Ingredients
Phyllo Dough and Butter Mixture
- 8 sheets phyllo dough (14 x 9 inches)
- 1 tbsp butter (melted)
- 1 tbsp oil (any neutral oil such as avocado oil)
Filling
- 8 ounces light cream cheese
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 cup whipped topping
Fruit Topping
- 1 11-oz can mandarin oranges (drained) or 2 to 3 fresh mandarin oranges, peeled
- 4 kiwifruit (peeled and sliced)
- 1 ½ cups sliced strawberries
Chocolate Drizzle
- 1 oz white baking chocolate (melted)
Instructions
- Prepare Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and neutral oil thoroughly to create a brushing mixture for the phyllo dough.
- Layer and Brush Phyllo: Place one sheet of phyllo dough on a baking sheet. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the sheet with the butter and oil mixture. Repeat this process with the remaining sheets, brushing each sheet before layering on top to ensure crispiness and flavor.
- Bake Phyllo Sheets: Bake the layered phyllo dough at 400°F (204°C) for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the phyllo turns golden brown and crisp. Remove from oven and let it cool completely on the baking sheet to maintain its crunch.
- Make Cream Cheese Filling: In the meantime, beat the light cream cheese in a bowl until smooth and creamy. Add the powdered sugar and continue beating until well combined. Gently fold in the whipped topping to give the filling a light and airy texture.
- Assemble the Tart: Spread the prepared cream cheese filling evenly over the cooled phyllo base.
- Add Fresh Fruit: Arrange the drained mandarin oranges, peeled and sliced kiwifruit, and sliced strawberries attractively over the cream cheese layer to create a colorful fruit topping.
- Melt and Drizzle Chocolate: Melt the white baking chocolate in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the fruit-topped tart for a beautiful finishing touch.
Notes
- Ensure phyllo dough is kept covered while working to prevent it from drying out.
- You can substitute fruit toppings based on seasonality or preference, such as blueberries, raspberries, or peaches.
- For easier slicing, chill the tart briefly before serving.
- Use a neutral oil like avocado or canola for a mild flavor that won’t overpower the phyllo.
- White chocolate can be substituted with dark or milk chocolate as desired.
