Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
Wet Ingredients
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs (lightly beaten)
- 3 ripe bananas (medium or large, mashed with a fork until smooth)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Additional Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups Oreos (coarsely chopped)
- 5-6 Oreos for topping
- Dark chocolate (melted, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-by 5-inch loaf pan thoroughly to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar until evenly combined. Set aside.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: Using a hand mixer, whisk, or food processor, blend the lightly beaten eggs, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and mashed bananas until smooth and well combined.
- Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir gently and mix just until combined to avoid overmixing.
- Fold in Oreos: Carefully fold in the coarsely chopped Oreos, distributing them evenly throughout the batter.
- Prepare for Baking: Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan. Sprinkle the remaining 5-6 chopped Oreos on top of the batter for an attractive topping.
- Bake: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 55-60 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center—if it comes out clean, the bread is ready.
- Cool: Allow the banana bread to rest in the pan for 10 minutes after baking. Then, remove it from the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Optional Finish: If desired, drizzle melted dark chocolate over the cooled banana bread for added flavor and decoration.
Notes
- Use ripe bananas as they provide natural sweetness and moisture.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender and moist.
- The melted dark chocolate drizzle is optional but adds a delicious finishing touch.
- Store the bread in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or refrigerate for up to one week.
- For a gluten-free version, substitute the all-purpose flour with a 1-to-1 gluten-free baking blend.
