This Nutella Puff Pastry Ring is an easy and delicious dessert featuring flaky puff pastry filled with creamy Nutella and crunchy nuts. Finished with powdered sugar and garnished with fresh cranberries and rosemary, it’s a perfect centerpiece pastry that combines sweet, nutty, and festive flavors in just 30 minutes.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 1 Nutella Puff Pastry Ring (serves 4)

Ingredients

Pastry

  • 1 Puff Pastry Package (2 Sheets)

Filling

  • ¼ cup Nutella
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped walnuts

Toppings

  • Powdered sugar, for topping
  • Fresh cranberries, for topping
  • Fresh rosemary, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375ºF (190ºC) to ensure it’s at the perfect temperature for baking the puff pastry ring.
  2. Prepare Base Pastry Sheet: Lay one sheet of puff pastry flat on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  3. Spread Nutella: Evenly spread ¼ cup of Nutella in the center of the puff pastry sheet, leaving the edges clear to form a border.
  4. Add Nuts and Layer Pastry: Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of finely chopped walnuts over the Nutella, then carefully place the second puff pastry sheet on top. Gently smooth and press down to seal the layers together.
  5. Cut Large Circle: Place a large bowl on top of the pastry and cut around it to create a large circular shape, trimming off the excess pastry.
  6. Mark and Cut Slices: Place a glass or small bowl in the center of the circle as a guideline. Cut from the rim of the glass to the outer edge of the pastry to create four main slices.
  7. Further Slice Sections: Cut each of the four slices in half, then cut each half in half again, resulting in 16 thin, evenly sized slices.
  8. Twist and Pinch Slices: Grab two adjacent slices at their ends and twist them away from each other one full turn to create a twisted effect. Bring the ends together and pinch shut to form connected loops around the ring.
  9. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven at 375ºF for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the pastry puffs and turns golden brown.
  10. Decorate and Serve: Once baked, sprinkle the pastry ring with powdered sugar. Garnish with fresh cranberries and rosemary sprigs for a festive and aromatic finish.

Notes

  • Use cold puff pastry straight from the refrigerator for best results.
  • You can substitute walnuts with other nuts like pecans or hazelnuts.
  • Be gentle when twisting the slices to avoid tearing the pastry.
  • Serve warm for the best Nutella texture and puff pastry flakiness.
  • Optional rosemary adds a lovely fragrant touch but can be omitted if preferred.
