Ingredients
Protein Ice Cream Base
- 1½ cups 2% or whole milk
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (about 30g)
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Optional Mix-Ins
- 2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons chopped strawberries or blueberries
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons crushed cookies
Instructions
- Prepare the Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the milk, vanilla protein powder, plain Greek yogurt, instant vanilla pudding mix, maple syrup or honey, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Pour into Ninja Creami Pint: Transfer the prepared mixture into the Ninja Creami pint container, ensuring not to exceed the maximum fill line. Smooth the surface with a spatula.
- Freeze the Mixture: Place the pint container in the freezer and freeze for at least 24 hours, allowing the mixture to solidify completely for optimal texture.
- Process the Ice Cream: Remove the container from the freezer and load it into the Ninja Creami machine. Select the ‘Ice Cream’ function and process according to the machine’s instructions.
- Add Mix-Ins (Optional): If desired, make a small well in the center of the processed ice cream and add your preferred mix-ins such as mini chocolate chips, chopped berries, peanut butter, or crushed cookies. Use the ‘Mix-Ins’ function on the Ninja Creami to gently fold them in for a uniform distribution.
- Serve and Enjoy: Once finished, scoop the creamy protein ice cream into bowls or cones and enjoy immediately for a refreshing, protein-packed treat.
Notes
- You can substitute 2% milk with whole milk for a creamier texture or skim milk for a lighter version.
- Instant pudding mix helps to improve texture and creaminess but can be omitted if desired.
- If you don’t have a Ninja Creami, you can freeze the mixture in a standard container and stir every 30 minutes to reduce ice crystals, though texture may differ.
- Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of maple syrup or honey.
- For a dairy-free option, substitute milk and Greek yogurt with plant-based alternatives, but results may vary.
