Ingredients
Egg Mixture
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons whole milk or heavy cream
- Pinch salt & pepper
- ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Butter
- 1 teaspoon butter
Instructions
- Prepare the bowl: Microwave the butter in a small microwave-safe bowl until just melted. Use a brush or a paper towel to spread the melted butter all over the inside of the bowl to prevent the eggs from sticking.
- Mix the eggs: Crack the eggs into the buttered bowl. Add the milk or heavy cream, then season with a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Whisk everything together until well combined and slightly frothy.
- First microwave interval: Place the bowl in the microwave uncovered and cook the egg mixture on high for 30 seconds. Remove and stir gently with a fork to start the scrambling process, ensuring even cooking.
- Add cheese and finish cooking: If desired, sprinkle a small handful of shredded cheddar cheese onto the eggs. Microwave again uncovered for an additional 45 seconds or until the eggs are fluffy and almost fully set. Serve immediately while hot.
Notes
- Microwave wattages vary; cooking times might need slight adjustment.
- Whole milk or heavy cream adds richness, but you can substitute with a milk alternative if preferred.
- For a dairy-free version, omit the butter and cheese, or use plant-based alternatives.
- Stirring halfway through helps achieve fluffy, evenly cooked eggs.
- Use a microwave-safe bowl to avoid damage or hazards.
