Ingredients
Ice Cream Sandwich Layer
- 24 full-size rectangular ice cream sandwiches
Oreo Crust
- 14 Oreos, chopped into bite-sized pieces
Sauce and Topping
- 11-12 ounces hot fudge sauce (approximately one jar), warmed if needed
- 16 ounces Cool Whip or whipped topping, thawed
- Sprinkles or mini M&Ms for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Arrange Ice Cream Sandwiches: In the bottom of a 9×13 inch pan, spread 12 ice cream sandwiches, cutting a few if necessary to fit the pan snugly.
- Prepare Oreos: Chop the Oreos into bite-sized pieces or place them in a large Ziptop bag and crush them using a rolling pin. Set aside.
- Add First Layers: Spread half of the hot fudge sauce evenly over the ice cream sandwich layer. Then, top with half of the thawed Cool Whip and smooth it out with a spatula. Sprinkle half of the chopped Oreo crumbs evenly over this layer.
- Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering with the remaining 12 ice cream sandwiches, the rest of the hot fudge sauce, the remaining Cool Whip, and lastly, the rest of the Oreo crumbs.
- Finish and Decorate: Add sprinkles or mini M&Ms over the top layer for a festive touch if desired.
- Freeze: Loosely cover the pan with plastic wrap or foil and place it in the freezer. Allow the cake to set for 1 to 3 hours before serving for best texture.
Notes
- You may cut a few ice cream sandwiches to fit the pan perfectly in each layer.
- Warm the hot fudge sauce slightly if it’s too thick to spread easily.
- This cake should be kept frozen until serving to maintain structure and texture.
- Use any flavored whipped topping or ice cream sandwiches to customize the flavor.
- Sprinkles or mini M&Ms add a fun colorful finish but are optional.
