This Ice Cream Sandwich Cake is a delightful no-bake dessert featuring layers of ice cream sandwiches, hot fudge sauce, whipped topping, and crunchy Oreos, all topped with colorful sprinkles or mini M&Ms. Perfect for parties or a fun family treat, it requires minimal prep and freezes to a creamy, indulgent cake.

  • Total Time: 3 hours 20 minutes
  • Yield: 16 servings

Ingredients

Ice Cream Sandwich Layer

  • 24 full-size rectangular ice cream sandwiches

Oreo Crust

  • 14 Oreos, chopped into bite-sized pieces

Sauce and Topping

  • 11-12 ounces hot fudge sauce (approximately one jar), warmed if needed
  • 16 ounces Cool Whip or whipped topping, thawed
  • Sprinkles or mini M&Ms for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Arrange Ice Cream Sandwiches: In the bottom of a 9×13 inch pan, spread 12 ice cream sandwiches, cutting a few if necessary to fit the pan snugly.
  2. Prepare Oreos: Chop the Oreos into bite-sized pieces or place them in a large Ziptop bag and crush them using a rolling pin. Set aside.
  3. Add First Layers: Spread half of the hot fudge sauce evenly over the ice cream sandwich layer. Then, top with half of the thawed Cool Whip and smooth it out with a spatula. Sprinkle half of the chopped Oreo crumbs evenly over this layer.
  4. Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering with the remaining 12 ice cream sandwiches, the rest of the hot fudge sauce, the remaining Cool Whip, and lastly, the rest of the Oreo crumbs.
  5. Finish and Decorate: Add sprinkles or mini M&Ms over the top layer for a festive touch if desired.
  6. Freeze: Loosely cover the pan with plastic wrap or foil and place it in the freezer. Allow the cake to set for 1 to 3 hours before serving for best texture.

Notes

  • You may cut a few ice cream sandwiches to fit the pan perfectly in each layer.
  • Warm the hot fudge sauce slightly if it’s too thick to spread easily.
  • This cake should be kept frozen until serving to maintain structure and texture.
  • Use any flavored whipped topping or ice cream sandwiches to customize the flavor.
  • Sprinkles or mini M&Ms add a fun colorful finish but are optional.
