Instructions
- Blend eggs and maple syrup: Add the 4 large eggs and ½ cup maple syrup to a high-powered blender. Blend on high speed for exactly 4 minutes, using a timer to ensure thorough mixing and a smooth, frothy texture.
- Add remaining ingredients: Pour in 1 ½ cups milk, 1 cup heavy cream (or coconut cream if dairy-free), ⅓ cup rum, and 1 teaspoon nutmeg. Blend everything together for an additional 10 seconds on high speed just to combine the ingredients evenly.
- Refrigerate the eggnog: Transfer the blended eggnog into an airtight container. Place it in the refrigerator and chill until cold, ideally at least 1 hour to let flavors meld and the texture thicken slightly.
- Serve with garnish: Stir the chilled eggnog before serving to recombine any settled ingredients. Pour into glasses and garnish each serving with either a cinnamon stick or a light sprinkle of ground cinnamon on top for a festive touch.
Notes
- Use a high-powered blender for best texture and thorough blending of eggs and syrup.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute coconut cream and dairy-free milk alternatives such as almond or oat milk.
- The rum amount can be adjusted or omitted for a non-alcoholic version.
- Chill the eggnog well before serving to enhance flavor and safety.
- Store leftover eggnog in the refrigerator in an airtight container and consume within 2-3 days.
- Ensure the eggs are fresh and clean since they are consumed raw in this recipe.
