Ingredients
Base Ingredients
- 10-12 oz Greek yogurt
- 2/3 cup gluten free old fashioned oats (Purity Protocol oats recommended)
- 1/2 cup milk (any kind)
- 2 Tablespoons chia seeds
Toppings
- 2 cups mixed fruit or berries (fresh or frozen)
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
Instructions
- Mix: In a small mixing bowl, add the Greek yogurt, gluten-free oats, milk, and chia seeds. Stir the ingredients thoroughly to combine, ensuring the mixture is uniform.
- Layer: Let the oat mixture sit and thicken for 5 minutes. Then, scoop about 1/2 cup of the mixture into the bottom of each 16oz mason jar. Top this layer with 1/2 cup of mixed fruit or berries. Repeat with another layer of oat mixture followed by fruit. Finish by sprinkling 1/4 cup of sliced almonds on top, then screw the lids onto the jars. Alternatively, divide the oat mixture between two storage containers, add half the fruit/berries and almonds on top, and cover each container.
- Chill: Refrigerate the assembled overnight oats for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to meld and to fully soften the oats. For best taste and freshness, consume within 3-4 days.
Notes
- Using Greek yogurt increases the protein content while adding creaminess to the oats.
- Purity Protocol oats are preferred for those needing strict gluten-free certification.
- Milk can be dairy or plant-based depending on dietary preference.
- Make ahead and store refrigerated up to 3-4 days for convenient breakfasts.
- Feel free to substitute fruits and nuts based on seasonal availability or personal preference.
