Ingredients
Fish
- 2 swordfish steaks (about 6 to 8 ounces each)
Marinade
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Pinch sea salt
- Pinch black pepper
To Serve
- Lemon wedges
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or use a grill pan on the stovetop to prepare for cooking the swordfish.
- Prepare Marinade: In a small bowl, mix olive oil, minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, dried oregano, salt, and pepper thoroughly to create a flavorful marinade.
- Marinate Swordfish: Place the swordfish steaks in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over them, ensuring even coating. Let them marinate for 20 to 30 minutes, or at least 10 minutes if time is short.
- Prepare Grill Grates: Lightly oil the grill grates before cooking to prevent the fish from sticking. Skip this step if using a grill pan.
- Remove Excess Marinade: Take the swordfish out of the marinade, allowing any excess marinade to drip off before placing on the grill.
- Grill the Swordfish: Place the steaks on the preheated grill and cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until the fish becomes opaque and flakes easily with a fork, adjusting time depending on thickness.
- Rest the Fish: Remove the cooked swordfish from the grill and allow it to rest for 1 minute to lock in the juices.
- Serve: Serve the grilled swordfish steaks with lemon wedges and garnish with fresh parsley for added flavor and presentation.
Notes
- Marinating the swordfish helps infuse flavor and keeps it moist while grilling.
- If you don’t have a grill, a grill pan on the stovetop works well as an alternative.
- Adjust grilling time according to the thickness of the swordfish steaks to avoid overcooking.
- Letting the fish rest briefly after grilling ensures juiciness and better texture.
- Use fresh parsley and lemon wedges not only for garnish but to enhance the taste when served.
