Ingredients
Vegetables
- 8 ounces broccolini (ends trimmed)
- 1 cup water
For Cooking
- 3 tablespoons butter (cut into pats)
- 2 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
Optional
- Lemon juice (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Boil Water: Add 1 cup of water to a skillet and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat to prepare for steaming the broccolini.
- Steam Broccolini: Once the water is boiling, add the trimmed broccolini to the skillet, cover with a lid, and cook for 5 minutes until the broccolini is tender but still bright green.
- Drain Water: Carefully drain the remaining water from the skillet to prevent the broccolini from becoming soggy.
- Heat Broccolini: Return the skillet with the broccolini to the stove over medium heat, preparing it for sautéing with butter and garlic.
- Sauté with Garlic Butter: Add the butter and finely chopped garlic to the skillet. Toss the broccolini often and cook for 2-3 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and lightly cooked without browning, and the broccolini is fully tender.
- Season and Serve: Season the broccolini generously with salt and pepper. Optionally, squeeze a bit of fresh lemon juice over the top before serving to add a refreshing citrus brightness.
Notes
- Be careful not to brown the garlic as it can develop a bitter taste; cook it just until fragrant.
- Trim the tough ends off the broccolini for the best texture.
- Use fresh lemon juice for a vibrant finish but it is optional depending on your taste preference.
- This dish is best served immediately to maintain the broccolini’s texture and flavor.
