These EASY Turkey and Stuffing Meatballs combine comforting flavors of seasoned turkey, savory sausage, and classic stuffing into delicious baked meatballs. Perfect as a holiday side or a hearty meal served with traditional accompaniments like mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce, they balance juicy meat with moist, flavorful stuffing for a satisfying dish.

  • Total Time: 43 minutes
  • Yield: 35 meatballs

Ingredients

Vegetables & Broth

  • ½ cup yellow onion, minced
  • 1 rib celery, very finely diced
  • ¾ cup chicken broth
  • ¼ cup water

Butter & Seasoning

  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Main Ingredients

  • 1 (6 oz.) box turkey Stovetop stuffing (chicken or turkey flavor)
  • 1 lb. ground turkey (85% lean)
  • ½ lb. ground sausage (recommend mild or spicy based on preference)
  • 1 large egg, whisked

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Set your oven to 400°F (204°C) to prepare for baking the meatballs.
  2. Sauté vegetables: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced onions and finely diced celery, cooking and stirring frequently for 5-6 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  3. Prepare stuffing mixture: Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, chicken broth, and water to the saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, then stir in the Stovetop stuffing. Reduce heat to low and combine thoroughly. Remove from heat and transfer the stuffing mixture to a large mixing bowl, allowing it to cool for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Combine meat and stuffing: Season the ground turkey with salt and pepper, then add it to the cooled stuffing mixture. Add the ground sausage and whisked egg. Mix everything thoroughly until evenly combined, ensuring the texture is consistent.
  5. Form meatballs: Using your hands, roll the mixture into approximately 1 ¾ inch diameter meatballs. Place them evenly spaced on a lightly greased, light-colored baking sheet to ensure even cooking and browning.
  6. Bake meatballs: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, allowing them to cook through and develop a light crust.
  7. Broil for finish: Increase oven temperature to broil at 450°F (232°C). Broil the meatballs for 2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent over-browning or burning. This step adds a nice golden finish.
  8. Serve and enjoy: Remove meatballs from the oven and serve warm. They pair excellently with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and cranberry sauce for a full and comforting meal.

Notes

  • Ground sausage adds extra flavor and fat; mild or spicy sausage can be used based on taste preferences.
  • Be careful during the broil step to avoid burning the meatballs; watch closely as broilers vary in intensity.
  • Lightly greasing the baking sheet and using a light-colored pan helps monitor browning and prevents sticking.
  • Leftover meatballs can be reheated in the oven or microwave and freeze well for meal prep.
  • You can substitute turkey stuffing mix for chicken stuffing if preferred.
