Ingredients
Tea Base
- 8 bags black tea (such as Lipton)
- 4 cups water
Sweetener
- ¼ cup sugar, plus more to taste (optional)
Garnish (Optional)
- 1 lemon, sliced
Instructions
- Boil Water: In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat. This is the base for your tea, ensuring a strong brew.
- Steep Tea: Remove the pot from heat and add the 8 black tea bags. Allow them to steep for 4 minutes to extract rich flavors without bitterness.
- Sweeten Tea: Remove and discard the tea bags. While the tea is still warm, stir in ¼ cup sugar or your preferred sweetener until fully dissolved. Taste and adjust the sweetness as desired.
- Mix and Chill: Transfer the tea to a pitcher and add 4 more cups of water to dilute to the perfect strength. Stir well, then refrigerate the tea for about 1 hour until nicely chilled.
- Serve: Pour the chilled tea over ice cubes in glasses. Garnish with lemon slices if using, and enjoy a refreshing drink. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
Notes
- Adjust the steeping time if you prefer stronger or milder tea.
- Use honey, agave, or your preferred sweetener as an alternative to sugar.
- For a citrus twist, add lemon juice along with the lemon slices.
- Make herbal or green iced tea by substituting black tea bags accordingly.
- Ensure to cool the tea before adding ice to avoid dilution.
