This EASY Boursin Orzo Bake is a creamy, flavorful one-pan meal featuring tender chicken, garlic-herb Boursin cheese, fresh spinach, and cherry tomatoes baked together with orzo pasta. It’s a perfect weeknight dinner that’s both comforting and quick to prepare, delivering a rich Italian-inspired dish with minimal effort.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cubed
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Orzo and Sauce

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups dry orzo
  • 2¼ cups chicken broth
  • 1 5.2 oz package Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs cheese

Vegetables and Finishings

  • 1 ½ cups cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 3 cups fresh spinach
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Squeeze of lemon juice (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven. Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the orzo dish.
  2. Season the chicken. In a bowl, season the cubed chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and smoked paprika to infuse flavor.
  3. Sear the chicken. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat and sear the chicken for 3-4 minutes, allowing it to brown but not fully cook as it will finish in the oven.
  4. Add garlic. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, enhancing the aromatic foundation of the dish.
  5. Combine orzo and broth. Add dry orzo and chicken broth to the skillet, then nestle the Boursin cheese in the center to allow it to melt and create a creamy sauce.
  6. Add tomatoes. Scatter the halved cherry tomatoes around the skillet, placing some cut-side up on top for even roasting and a burst of color.
  7. Bake covered. Cover the skillet with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and has absorbed much of the liquid.
  8. Finish the bake. Remove the foil, stir the mixture to combine until creamy, then fold in fresh spinach and grated Parmesan. Bake uncovered for an additional 3-5 minutes to wilt the spinach and melt the cheese.
  9. Final touches. Finish by adding a squeeze of lemon juice, fresh basil leaves, and red pepper flakes if desired for added brightness and heat before serving.

Notes

  • Use an oven-safe skillet to avoid transferring the dish before baking.
  • If you don’t have Boursin cheese, substitute with cream cheese mixed with garlic and herbs.
  • For a vegetarian version, omit chicken and use vegetable broth instead.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes according to your spice preference or omit entirely.
  • Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat gently with a splash of broth or water.
