Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 swordfish steak (about 1/2 pound)
- 2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil, plus extra for drizzling
- 1 tsp. garlic powder, divided
- 2 large lemons, divided
- Sea salt to taste
- 2 to 4 green onions (scallions), chopped
- 2 to 4 Tbsp. white wine
- Extra lemon slices, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190.6 degrees C) to prepare for baking the swordfish.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Use a deep baking dish just large enough to hold the swordfish steak. A 2.5 quart (2.3 L) dish works well for this recipe.
- Create Marinade Base: Drizzle 1 1/2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil on the bottom of the baking dish. Squeeze the juice of one whole lemon over the oil, then sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder evenly on top.
- Place Swordfish: Lay the swordfish steak on top of the olive oil and lemon mixture in the baking dish.
- Add Toppings: Drizzle a little extra virgin olive oil over the swordfish steak. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder evenly on top, then squeeze the juice of the second lemon over the fish.
- Season and Scatter: Sprinkle sea salt on the swordfish to taste. Scatter the chopped green onions on and around the fish, then drizzle the white wine evenly over everything.
- Marinate: Let the swordfish marinate in the dish for about 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Bake: Bake the swordfish uncovered in the preheated oven for 18 to 22 minutes, or until the fish turns white, is fully cooked, and flakes tenderly with a fork.
- Serve: Transfer the swordfish to a serving plate and pour the remaining lemon sauce from the baking dish over the top. Garnish with lemon slices if desired and serve immediately.
- Enjoy: This recipe serves 1 and makes a healthy, delicious seafood entrée perfect for a quick meal.
Notes
- Do not overcook the swordfish to avoid dryness; check for flaking tenderness with a fork.
- Use fresh lemons for the best bright citrus flavor in the marinade and sauce.
- Adjust the amount of white wine according to preference or substitute with a light broth if desired.
- Chopped green onions add freshness; you can substitute with chives or parsley if needed.
- Cooking time may vary slightly depending on the thickness of the swordfish steak.
