This Easy 20 Minute Ground Beef and Broccoli stir-fry combines lean ground beef with fresh broccoli florets in a flavorful homemade stir fry sauce. It’s a quick and healthy weeknight meal that balances protein and veggies with a savory, slightly sweet sauce, ready in just 20 minutes. Perfect for serving over steamed rice for a satisfying family dinner.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (93/7)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup green onion, sliced
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Stir Fry Sauce

  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon arrowroot starch or cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Heat the skillet and season beef: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season one side of the ground beef liberally with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook the beef: Once the skillet is hot, add the avocado oil and place the seasoned side of the ground beef into the skillet. Sear for 5-6 minutes until browned on one side, then flip and break the meat apart. Add the minced garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes and cook until the beef is no longer pink. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
  3. Prepare the stir fry sauce: While beef cooks, whisk together low-sodium soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, and arrowroot starch in a small bowl until smooth and combined.
  4. Cook the broccoli: In the same skillet, add broccoli florets and 1/3 cup water. Cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until broccoli is bright green and slightly tender but still crunchy.
  5. Combine beef and sauce: Return the cooked ground beef and any accumulated juices to the skillet. Pour in the stir fry sauce and stir everything together. Cook for another minute until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef and broccoli.
  6. Finish and serve: Remove skillet from heat, stir in sliced green onions, and garnish with sesame seeds. Serve immediately over steamed rice.

  • Arrowroot starch can be substituted with cornstarch for thickening the sauce.
  • Adjust red pepper flakes to control the spice level.
  • Serve with steamed rice or your favorite grain for a complete meal.
