Dubai Chocolate Dates are a delightful fusion of rich, buttery kataifi, creamy pistachio butter, tahini, and luscious milk chocolate, enveloping sweet Medjool dates for a luxurious and easy-to-make Middle Eastern-inspired treat. Perfect as a festive snack or dessert, these chocolate-dipped stuffed dates offer a perfect balance of crunchy, creamy, and sweet flavors.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 15 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 15 Medjool dates (pitted)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup finely chopped kataifi
  • 2 tablespoons pistachio butter
  • 1 tablespoon tahini
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped pistachios (optional)

Instructions

  1. Toast Kataifi: Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add the butter and, once it is just bubbling, add the finely chopped kataifi. Toast it for 4 to 5 minutes while stirring occasionally until it turns golden brown and fragrant.
  2. Prepare Filling: Transfer the toasted kataifi to a small bowl. Add the pistachio butter and tahini, stirring thoroughly until all the ingredients are well combined into a cohesive stuffing mixture.
  3. Stuff Dates: Take each pitted Medjool date and spoon about a tablespoon of the kataifi filling inside. Arrange the stuffed dates on a piece of parchment paper to prepare for the next step.
  4. Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the milk chocolate chips by heating them in 30-second increments. Stir between intervals until the chocolate is smooth and drizzlable.
  5. Drizzle and Garnish: Using a spoon, drizzle the melted chocolate evenly over the stuffed dates. Optionally, sprinkle the finely chopped pistachios on top to add a nutty crunch and attractive finish.
  6. Set and Chill: Place the chocolate-drizzled dates in the freezer for 10 minutes or refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to set before serving.

Notes

  • Medjool dates are recommended for their natural sweetness and soft texture, making them ideal for stuffing.
  • Ensure the kataifi is finely chopped for easy stuffing and better texture.
  • The pistachio butter and tahini add creaminess and a rich nutty flavor, but you can adjust quantities to taste.
  • If you do not have pistachio butter, substitute with almond butter or peanut butter for a different nutty twist.
  • Chocolate chips can be replaced with dark or white chocolate as per preference.
  • Keep stuffed dates refrigerated if not serving immediately to maintain freshness.
  • Freezing is quick but refrigerating for 30 minutes works equally well to set chocolate.
