Ingredients
Chocolate Shell
- 16 oz milk or semi-sweet chocolate bar or chocolate chips (white chocolate for the biscoff version)
Filling Options
- 1 cup kataifi or phyllo dough (chopped)
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 1 cup pistachio cream
- 1 cup pretzels (chopped or crushed)
- 1 cup peanut butter
- ¼ cup jelly (optional, for layering only)
- 1 cup biscoff cookies (chopped or crushed, about 14 cookies)
- 1 cup biscoff or cookie butter
- 1 cup toasted phyllo, kataifi, or crushed Oreos
- ½ cup hazelnuts (roasted and chopped, optional)
- 1 cup Nutella
Instructions
- Melt Chocolate: Chop the chocolate into small pieces and microwave in 30-second intervals for about 90 seconds, gently stirring between each interval, until the chocolate is melted and smooth. Avoid overheating or overmixing to prevent the chocolate from hardening or splitting.
- Fill Mold: Pour a little more than half the melted chocolate into your chocolate molds, tilting the mold so the chocolate covers all sides and corners evenly. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl. Place the mold in the freezer while you prepare the filling, allowing the chocolate shell to set.
- Toast Phyllo: Heat a large heavy-duty pan over medium heat. Add the chopped phyllo dough or kataifi with the butter, stirring occasionally until golden brown and crispy. Transfer the toasted phyllo into a medium mixing bowl and combine with the pistachio cream for the pistachio filling option.
- Assemble: Remove the chocolate molds from the freezer. Choose your filling and combine ingredients in a small bowl accordingly. For the peanut butter option, layer jelly on top without mixing it in. Evenly divide the filling mixture into the chocolate molds. Drizzle the remaining melted chocolate on top and gently smooth with an offset spatula. Return the molds to the freezer to set for about 5 minutes, then carefully remove the chocolate bars from the molds and enjoy!
Notes
- Use white chocolate instead of milk or semi-sweet chocolate for the biscoff cookie butter version to complement the flavors.
- Ensure the chocolate is not overheated when melting to avoid texture problems.
- Toast the phyllo or kataifi dough until golden and crispy to add a perfect crunch to the bars.
- For best results, use silicone molds designed for chocolates to make unmolding easier.
- The jelly for the peanut butter bars should be layered on top, not mixed in, to preserve texture contrast.
- Store finished chocolate bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
