Ingredients
Beef and Coating
- 360 g thin-cut beef steaks
- 4 tablespoons plain flour
- Salt and pepper, to season
Vegetables
- 1 red pepper, sliced into matchsticks
- 2 carrots, sliced into matchsticks
Pasta
- 200 g dried pasta (cooked according to package instructions)
Sauce
- 120 g oyster sauce (1 sachet)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Juice of 1 lime
Cooking Oil
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef: In a bowl, place the plain flour and season with salt and pepper. Slice the beef steaks into thin strips across the grain to keep them tender. Dredge the beef strips in the seasoned flour to ensure a crispy texture when cooked.
- Cook the Pasta: Boil a pot of salted water and cook the dried pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside until needed.
- Prepare the Vegetables: Slice the red pepper and carrots into matchstick-sized pieces for quick and even cooking in the stir-fry.
- Mix the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the oyster sauce, soy sauce, sriracha sauce, minced ginger, minced garlic, and the juice of one lime. Stir to blend all the flavors and set aside.
- Cook the Beef and Vegetables: Heat a non-stick frying pan or skillet over high heat. Add the olive or vegetable oil and wait until it shimmers. Add the flour-coated beef strips and sear them, cooking for about 2 minutes on each side until crispy and browned. Add the sliced red pepper and carrot matchsticks to the pan, and continue to cook, stirring, for an additional 2 minutes to slightly soften the vegetables while keeping them crisp.
- Combine and Serve: Pour the prepared sauce into the pan with the beef and vegetables. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. If the sauce is too thick, add a few tablespoons of water (about 4 tablespoons used) to reach your desired consistency. Toss the cooked pasta directly in the pan with the sauce and beef to coat everything evenly. Divide the finished dish into four bowls and serve immediately while hot and flavorful.
Notes
- Ensure beef is sliced thinly and across the grain for tenderness.
- Use high heat to achieve a crispy texture on the beef.
- Adjust the amount of sriracha to control the spiciness of the dish.
- If oyster sauce is unavailable, substitute with hoisin sauce for a different but tasty flavor.
- Adding a bit of water helps thin the sauce if it becomes too thick while simmering.
