Instructions
- Prepare Chicken: Cut chicken breasts into cutlets or fillets. Use a meat mallet or rolling pin to pound any thick parts to an even thickness for uniform cooking.
- Season Chicken: Mix together oil, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Coat each chicken cutlet thoroughly with this mixture to add flavor and help the breading stick.
- Prepare Breading: In a separate bowl, combine breadcrumbs, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried basil, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and chili powder. Mix well to evenly distribute the spices.
- Coat Chicken: Place one chicken cutlet at a time into the breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to ensure the mixture sticks on both sides. Repeat for all cutlets.
- Arrange in Air Fryer: Place the coated chicken breasts in the air fryer tray, spacing them slightly apart to ensure even cooking and crisping.
- Cook Chicken: Set the air fryer temperature to 200 °C (390 °F). Cook for 8-9 minutes, then flip the chicken cutlets and cook for an additional 4 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Rest and Serve: Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes after cooking before slicing. This helps retain the juices for a tender bite.
