Ingredients
Crab Rangoon Mixture
- 6 ounces crab meat (drained, fresh or packaged)
- 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1 green onion (diced)
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
Nacho Base & Toppings
- 6 ounces restaurant-style tortilla chips
- 4 ounces shredded Monterey Jack cheese (or Mozzarella)
- 1 green onion (diced)
- ¼ cup sweet and sour sauce (homemade or store-bought)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (204 degrees C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Prepare Crab Mixture: In a small bowl, gently combine the drained crab meat, softened cream cheese, diced green onion, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and garlic powder. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated without breaking up the crab meat too much.
- Assemble Nachos: Spread the tortilla chips evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Carefully spoon and spread the crab mixture evenly over the chips to ensure each chip gets a good amount of topping.
- Add Cheese & Toppings: Sprinkle the shredded Monterey Jack cheese on top of the crab-covered chips. Then scatter the additional diced green onions over the cheese. Finally, drizzle the sweet and sour sauce evenly over everything for a touch of sweetness and tang.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 7-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown spots appear. Keep an eye to avoid burning.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a dash of sriracha or crushed red pepper flakes to the crab mixture.
- If you prefer a different cheese, mozzarella or a mild cheddar can also work well.
- This dish is best served immediately while the cheese is hot and gooey to maintain the perfect texture.
- Sweet and sour sauce can be replaced with duck sauce or a mild chili sauce for variation.
- Use fresh crab meat if possible for the best flavor, but canned or imitation crab works as a convenient substitute.
