Ingredients
Wet Ingredients
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- ¼ cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar, lightly packed
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and position the rack in the center to ensure even baking.
- Prepare the baking dish: Grease an 8 x 8-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the vegetable oil, water, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and combined.
- Add eggs: Incorporate the room temperature eggs into the bowl and stir until the batter appears glossy and unified.
- Combine dry ingredients: Gradually add the flour, cocoa powder, and sea salt to the wet ingredients. Stir gently until just combined to avoid overmixing which can toughen the brownies.
- Pour batter and bake: Transfer the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Bake for about 28 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool and serve: Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before slicing into 9 squares to retain the fudgy texture.
Notes
- Using room temperature eggs helps achieve a smoother batter and better rise.
- Do not overmix the batter once dry ingredients are added to keep brownies tender.
- Check doneness starting at 25 minutes to avoid overbaking and drying out the brownies.
- For an extra fudgy texture, you can slightly underbake the brownies and let them finish setting as they cool.
- Optionally, line the baking dish with parchment paper with overhang for easy removal of the brownies after baking.
