Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 3 lb ground chicken
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1/2 medium onion, grated
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 bread slices
- 1 tbsp salt, adjust to taste
- 1 tsp ground black pepper, adjust to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Soak Bread: Soak the bread slices in milk for about 10 minutes to soften them. Once soaked, shred the bread into small pieces using your hands or a fork.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken with eggs and mayonnaise. Add the shredded bread and grated onion. Season the mixture with salt and ground black pepper, adjusting the seasoning to your taste. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
- Preheat Oil: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat until hot but not smoking. The oil should be enough to cover the bottom of the pan for shallow frying.
- Form and Fry Patties: Spoon equal portions of the meat mixture into the frying pan, leaving some space between each patty. Flatten slightly if needed. Fry each side of the patties for about 4-5 minutes, or until they become golden brown and cooked through. Make sure the internal temperature reaches at least 165°F (74°C) for chicken.
- Drain and Serve: Remove the kotleti from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil. Serve hot as a main dish or with your favorite sides.
Notes
- Soaking the bread in milk helps keep the meatballs moist and tender.
- Grated onion adds sweetness and flavor but can be replaced with finely chopped onion if preferred.
- Adjust salt and pepper according to your personal taste.
- Use medium heat to avoid burning the outside while ensuring the inside cooks thoroughly.
- These can also be baked in the oven at 375°F for about 20 minutes as a lighter alternative.
