Ingredients
Puff Pastry
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry
- 1 egg
- 1 Tb sugar
Filling
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/4 cups Nutella
- 1 (16 ounce) container cool whip
- 1 (6 ounce) container fresh raspberries
Instructions
- Prepare Puff Pastry: Thaw the frozen puff pastry sheet according to package instructions. Once thawed, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Egg Wash and Sugar Sprinkle: Beat the egg in a small bowl. Brush the puff pastry sheet with the beaten egg, then sprinkle 1 tablespoon sugar evenly over the top to give it a sweet, golden finish.
- Bake Puff Pastry: Place the puff pastry sheet on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the pastry is puffed, golden brown, and crisp. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
- Prepare Filling: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the Nutella and continue mixing until well combined and creamy.
- Assemble the Dessert: Spread the Nutella and cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled puff pastry. Gently fold in or dollop the cool whip onto the top layer, smoothing it out as desired.
- Add Fresh Raspberries: Arrange the fresh raspberries evenly over the top of the cool whip layer to add a fresh, fruity contrast to the rich chocolate filling.
- Chill before serving: Refrigerate the assembled chocolate raspberry puff pastry for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld and filling to set before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute fresh raspberries with other berries like strawberries or blueberries for variety.
- Ensure the puff pastry is completely cooled before applying the filling to prevent melting or sogginess.
- Use a hand mixer or stand mixer for a smoother, fluffier cream cheese and Nutella mixture.
- This dessert is best served within 24 hours of assembly for optimal freshness.
- For a decorative touch, dust the top with powdered sugar before serving.
