Ingredients
Burger Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground chicken
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/3 cup hot sauce (Frank’s Red Hot recommended)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Whipped Feta Spread
- 6 ounces feta cheese (block or crumbles)
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons water
For Cooking and Finishing
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce (for brushing)
- Buns, as needed
- Lettuce, for serving
Instructions
- Make the Whipped Feta: Blend the feta cheese, cream cheese, Greek yogurt, olive oil, and water in a small food processor until smooth and spreadable with some visible flecks of feta remaining for texture.
- Mix the Burgers: In a medium bowl, combine the ground chicken, panko breadcrumbs, hot sauce, garlic powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly to incorporate all the ingredients evenly. Form the mixture into 4-5 evenly sized patties.
- Cook the Burgers: Heat a small amount of oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken patties and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), ensuring they are fully cooked.
- Brush with Butter: While the burgers finish cooking, mix the melted butter with the hot sauce. Brush this spicy buttery mixture over the outsides of the patties to add extra flavor and moisture.
- Finish: Assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a bun layered with fresh lettuce. Spread a generous amount of the whipped feta on the bun as a creamy, tangy topping. Serve immediately for best taste.
Notes
- The whipped feta spread can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken burgers reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
- If you prefer less heat, reduce the amount of hot sauce in the patties and butter glaze accordingly.
- Panko breadcrumbs help keep the burgers tender and juicy while providing structure.
- Serve with your favorite toppings or sides such as pickles, onions, or coleslaw for added variety.
