This Bang Bang Salmon with Avocado Cucumber Salsa is a quick and flavorful seafood dish featuring tender baked salmon coated with a spicy, creamy bang bang sauce. Served over rice and complemented by a refreshing avocado cucumber salsa, it makes for a vibrant and satisfying meal perfect for weeknights or dinner parties.

  • Total Time: 22 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Salmon and Seasoning

  • 1 1/2 pounds salmon filet
  • 1-2 tablespoons all-purpose seasoning mix (see notes for homemade)

Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce

Toppings and Sides

  • Chili crisp for topping
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Avocado cucumber salsa (see notes below)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Salmon: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut the salmon filet into individual portions if desired. Pat the salmon pieces dry with paper towels and evenly coat them with the all-purpose seasoning mix. Place the seasoned salmon on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Make the Bang Bang Sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, grated garlic, and soy sauce. Stir well to incorporate. Set aside half of the mixture for serving later.
  3. Bake the Salmon: Spread a small spoonful of the bang bang sauce evenly over each piece of the seasoned salmon. Place the baking sheet towards the top rack of the oven and bake the salmon for 10 minutes.
  4. Broil for Caramelization: After baking, switch the oven to broil and broil the salmon for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until it develops a golden brown, slightly caramelized crust on top. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
  5. Serve: Plate the salmon over cooked rice and a serving of avocado cucumber salsa or a vegetable of your choice. Drizzle the reserved bang bang sauce and chili crisp over the salmon for extra flavor and heat. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For homemade all-purpose seasoning, mix equal parts paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and a touch of cayenne pepper.
  • The avocado cucumber salsa pairs beautifully with the spicy salmon, adding a cool, fresh contrast. To make it, combine diced avocado, cucumber, lime juice, chopped cilantro, and a pinch of salt.
  • Adjust the amount of chili crisp according to your preferred spice level.
  • This recipe is best served immediately for optimal texture and flavor.
