Meat and Seasonings
- 1/2 pound lean ground beef (or Italian sausage, ground turkey)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon jarred minced garlic
Sauce and Pasta
- 14 ounces marinara sauce (or pasta sauce, meat sauce)
- 1/2 cup water
- 9 ounces tortellini
Cheese
- 4 ounces cream cheese, cubed (room temperature)
- 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F to prepare for baking the assembled dish.
- Cook Ground Beef: Heat a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and crumbly, about 5 minutes.
- Add Seasonings: Stir in the Italian seasoning, salt, and jarred minced garlic until well combined with the beef.
- Add Sauce and Water: Pour in the marinara sauce and water, stirring until fully combined.
- Simmer with Tortellini: Reduce heat to low, then add the tortellini to the saucepan. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the tortellini are warmed through, about 10 minutes.
- Blend in Cream Cheese: Add the cubed cream cheese to the tortellini mixture and stir gently until the cream cheese is fully blended and the sauce is creamy.
- Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the entire mixture into an 8×8 baking dish sprayed with non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
- Add Mozzarella Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the pasta mixture.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and turned golden brown on top. Serve immediately.

- You can substitute ground beef with Italian sausage or ground turkey for variation.
- Using room temperature cream cheese helps it blend smoothly into the sauce.
- For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the seasoning step.
