This Baked Feta Dip is a savory and slightly spicy appetizer featuring a warm block of feta cheese surrounded by roasted cherry tomatoes, pepperoncini peppers, Kalamata olives, and garlic, all drizzled with hot honey and seasoned with Italian herbs and red pepper flakes. Perfect served hot with crusty bread or crackers, it’s an easy crowd-pleaser that comes together in just 30 minutes.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

Cheese

  • 8 oz block of feta cheese

Vegetables and Olives

  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/3 cup sliced pepperoncini peppers, drained
  • 1/3 cup Kalamata olives, pitted and halved
  • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced

Seasonings and Toppings

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tsp hot honey (substitute regular honey if preferred)
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (omit for milder flavor)
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for roasting the ingredients evenly.
  2. Prepare the Vegetables and Arrange: In a baking dish, combine cherry tomatoes, sliced pepperoncini peppers, Kalamata olives, and thinly sliced garlic cloves. Toss these with about one tablespoon of olive oil so they are lightly coated. Create a well in the center of this mixture and place the block of feta cheese in it.
  3. Season the Feta and Vegetables: Drizzle the remaining one tablespoon of olive oil over the top of the feta block. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning and a pinch of red pepper flakes evenly over the entire dish. Finish by drizzling hot honey on top to add a sweet and spicy aroma.
  4. Bake until Soft and Bubbling: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the feta is soft and creamy and the vegetables have roasted and softened, releasing their juices.
  5. Add Fresh Basil and Serve: Remove the dish from the oven and immediately sprinkle the thinly sliced fresh basil over the top. Serve the dip hot with crusty bread, crackers, or vegetable sticks for dipping.

Notes

  • You can substitute regular honey for hot honey if you prefer a milder sweetness without spice.
  • Omit red pepper flakes if you want a less spicy dip.
  • Pair this dip with warm pita bread, toasted baguette slices, or fresh vegetable crudités.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat gently before serving.
  • For a vegan version, try using a firm plant-based cheese alternative.
