This easy Baked Dijon Salmon recipe features tender salmon fillets coated in a flavorful Dijon mustard, garlic, and dill marinade, then baked to perfection under the broiler. Ready in just 20 minutes, it’s a healthy and delicious dinner option that pairs wonderfully with asparagus or your favorite veggies.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Salmon and Marinade

  • 4 salmon fillets (~6.5 oz / 180 g each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large garlic clove, grated
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Optional Vegetables

  • Bunch of asparagus (or broccolini/other veggies)
  • Olive oil for drizzling
  • Salt and black pepper for seasoning

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, dried dill, grated garlic clove, and a good pinch of salt and black pepper. Whisk everything together until smooth and well mixed.
  2. Marinate the Salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and place them skin-side down onto a baking dish lined with parchment paper. Spoon the Dijon marinade evenly over each fillet. Let the salmon marinate for at least 15 minutes; if marinating longer, cover and refrigerate.
  3. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to the broiler setting at 480℉ (250℃). If adding asparagus or other vegetables, arrange them on the side of the baking tray, drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Bake the Salmon: Place the baking tray in the center of the oven and broil the salmon for 10-12 minutes, or about 9 minutes if you want the salmon to remain pink inside. The fish should flake easily with a fork when done.
  5. Serve: Plate the baked Dijon salmon alongside your choice of rice, quinoa, vegetables, or salad. Garnish with lemon wedges and enjoy a healthy, flavorful meal.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh salmon fillets with skin on to help keep the fish moist while baking.
  • Adjust the broiling time depending on the thickness of the salmon fillets and your preferred doneness.
  • Substitute dried dill with fresh dill if available, using about 1 tablespoon.
  • You can swap asparagus for broccolini or other quick-roasting vegetables.
  • Marinating the salmon longer than 15 minutes enhances flavor but do not exceed 2 hours to maintain texture.
  • This recipe works well with a side of lemon wedges to add fresh citrus brightness.
