This American Flag Fruit Pizza features a delicious sugary cookie crust topped with a creamy whipped cream and cream cheese layer, decorated with fresh blueberries and raspberries to resemble the iconic American flag. It’s a vibrant, festive dessert perfect for summer celebrations and serves 16 people.

  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 16 servings

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 tube Refrigerated Sugar Cookie Dough (16.5 oz)

Filling

  • 8 oz Cream Cheese (softened)
  • 2/3 cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 8 oz Whipped Topping (thawed)

Toppings

  • 12 oz Fresh Raspberries (3 to 4 cups)
  • 1 dry pint Fresh Blueberries (about 2 cups)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the cookie crust.
  2. Prepare Cookie Dough: Open the tube of refrigerated sugar cookie dough and slice it into approximately 1/4 inch thick pieces for even layering.
  3. Shape the Crust: Place the sliced cookie dough pieces on a lightly greased 12-inch pizza pan. Press them together to form an even, continuous layer. If desired, reserve one slice separately to cut into a star shape after baking.
  4. Bake Crust: Bake the assembled cookie crust in the preheated oven for 11-12 minutes or until it is lightly browned. Remove from oven and allow it to cool completely. Meanwhile, wash and dry the fresh blueberries and raspberries.
  5. Make Cream Cheese Mixture: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract together until smooth and creamy. Then beat in half of the thawed whipped topping until well combined, followed by folding in the remaining whipped topping gently to keep the mixture light and fluffy.
  6. Spread Filling: Spread just under half of the cream cheese mixture evenly onto the cooled cookie crust, covering all the way to the edges to create a smooth base layer.
  7. Arrange Blueberries: Use blueberries to create the blue field of the American flag by outlining a section of the pizza and forming a solid blue area. Optionally, place the star-shaped cookie piece on top as a decorative star.
  8. Create Red Stripes: Use fresh raspberries to form seven red stripes across the pizza, spaced evenly to replicate the flag’s design.
  9. Pipe White Stripes: Use the remaining cream cheese mixture to pipe white stripes between the raspberry stripes for the signature red and white pattern of the flag.
  10. Chill Before Serving: Place the decorated fruit pizza in the refrigerator and keep chilled until ready to serve to allow the flavors to meld and maintain the creamy texture.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easier mixing and smoother texture.
  • Thaw the whipped topping completely before mixing to ensure the cream cheese mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to create the star decoration for an authentic flag appearance.
  • The cookie crust can be baked a day ahead and stored in an airtight container to save time.
  • This dessert is best served chilled on the day it’s made for optimal freshness of the fruit and cream topping.
