Delicious and easy Air Fryer Salmon Bites marinated in a savory and sweet soy-based sauce with garlic and ginger. Perfectly cooked in minutes, these tender salmon cubes are ideal as a snack, appetizer, or part of a main dish served with rice and veggies. The marinade enhances the natural flavor of the salmon while the air fryer delivers a crispy exterior without excess oil.

  • Total Time: 18 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

Salmon

  • 12oz / 340g salmon fillets, skin and bones removed

Marinade

  • 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1 garlic clove, grated
  • Small cube fresh ginger, grated

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds
  • Green onions
  • Spicy mayo or sriracha aioli

Instructions

  1. Prepare Salmon: Remove the skin and any bones from the salmon fillets. Cut the salmon into approximately 1-inch (2.5 cm) cubes to ensure even cooking and better marinade absorption.
  2. Make Marinade: In a container, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, toasted sesame oil, and freshly grated garlic and ginger. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  3. Marinate Salmon: Add the salmon cubes to the marinade, stirring gently to coat all pieces evenly. Let them marinate for at least 10 minutes at room temperature, or for a few hours in the refrigerator if time allows, to develop deeper flavor.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) and preheat. Spray the air fryer basket lightly with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  5. Air Fry Salmon: Arrange salmon cubes in a single layer in the basket, ensuring they do not touch for even cooking. Air fry for 5 to 8 minutes depending on your preferred doneness. Halfway through cooking, flip the salmon bites and brush them with some of the leftover marinade to enhance flavor and moisture.
  6. Serve: Transfer the salmon bites to a serving dish. Garnish with sesame seeds, chopped green onions, and a drizzle of spicy mayo or sriracha aioli. Serve with rice and vegetables or as part of a salmon bowl. Enjoy immediately for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • For best flavor, marinate the salmon for at least 30 minutes if time permits.
  • Adjust air frying time based on the size of the salmon pieces and your preferred doneness.
  • You can substitute honey with maple syrup or agave for a different sweetness profile.
  • Make sure to pat salmon dry slightly before air frying if marinade is very wet to avoid excess moisture.
  • Sriracha aioli can be made by mixing mayonnaise with sriracha sauce to taste.
  • Use low sodium soy sauce to control salt levels and make it healthier.
