Ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 scoops good quality vanilla gelato or ice cream
- 1 shot espresso coffee
- Optional: 1 shot of liqueur such as Frangelico, Amaretto, or Kahlua
- Italian biscotti or your favorite biscuit, for serving
Instructions
- Chill the Glass: Place your serving glass in the freezer to chill, which helps keep the dessert nicely cold and fresh when served, especially great for entertaining guests.
- Make the Espresso: Prepare a fresh shot of espresso using your espresso machine or coffee maker to ensure a rich, hot coffee base.
- Add the Gelato: Remove the chilled glass from the freezer and place 2 scoops of vanilla gelato or ice cream into it, creating a creamy base for the espresso.
- Pour Espresso (and Liqueur): Pour the freshly brewed espresso directly over the gelato. If using, add a shot of your preferred liqueur now to enrich the flavors and give an adult twist.
- Serve Immediately: Present your affogato immediately with a teaspoon and a side of Italian biscotti or your favorite biscuit for dipping, to enjoy the perfect blend of hot coffee and cold ice cream.
Notes
- Use high-quality vanilla gelato or ice cream for the best flavor and texture.
- Serve immediately to prevent the gelato from melting too quickly.
- Chilling the glass beforehand enhances the dessert’s refreshment factor.
- Optional liqueurs like Frangelico, Amaretto, or Kahlua add a delightful depth.
