Ingredients
Dough
- 1 cup self-rising flour
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 ¼ cups mozzarella cheese
Topping
- 1 tsp melted butter
- Seeds for sprinkling (such as sesame, poppy, or everything bagel seasoning)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking the bagels evenly.
- Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour, Greek yogurt, and mozzarella cheese. Stir and knead until a smooth dough forms that is soft but not sticky. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle in a bit more flour until manageable.
- Shape the Bagels: Divide the dough into equal portions and roll each piece into a ball. Then, shape each ball into a bagel by forming a hole in the center with your fingers and smoothing the edges.
- Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and arrange the shaped bagels evenly on the sheet, allowing space for slight expansion during baking.
- Top and Bake: Brush each bagel with melted butter for a golden finish and sprinkle your choice of seeds on top. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the bagels turn golden brown and cook through.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the bagels from the oven and let them cool slightly on a cooling rack. Serve warm for the best texture and flavor.
Notes
- If the dough is too sticky, gradually add more self-rising flour until the desired consistency is reached.
- Use full-fat Greek yogurt for a richer texture and better binding.
- Try different seeds or seasoning blends for added flavor variety.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
- Reheat bagels in a toaster oven or microwave for a warm, fresh taste.
