Ingredients
Dry Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cup cocoa powder (125g)
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour (180g)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp espresso powder
Wet Ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar (200g)
- ½ cup brown sugar (100g)
- 1 cup salted butter (220g), melted
- 4 eggs
- ½ cup Nutella (150g)
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
Add-ins
- 10 oz. chocolate chips (170g)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Combine dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder, and espresso powder. Set aside.
- Mix sugars and butter: In a large bowl, whisk the white sugar, brown sugar, and melted salted butter until well combined and smooth.
- Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time into the sugar-butter mix, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Incorporate Nutella: Gently fold the Nutella into the wet mixture until swirled throughout, creating a marbled effect.
- Combine wet and dry: Slowly add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Do not overmix to keep the brownies tender.
- Add chocolate chips: Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
- Bake the brownies: Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool and serve: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares. This helps them set and achieve the perfect fudgy texture.
Notes
- For extra gooey brownies, slightly underbake by reducing the time by 3-5 minutes.
- Use high-quality cocoa powder and Nutella for the best rich flavor.
- Espresso powder enhances the chocolate flavor but can be omitted for a milder taste.
- Brownies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 days at room temperature or refrigerated for up to a week.
- Freeze leftovers by wrapping tightly; thaw at room temperature before serving.
