A classic recipe that brings savory goodness to your table!

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 6-8 servings

Ingredients

907g ground chuck

1 can diced tomatoes (400g)

1 can crushed tomatoes (400g)

2 cans tomato sauce (800g total)

3 tablespoons olive oil

5 cloves fresh garlic, minced

1 large onion or 2 medium onions, diced

1 green pepper, diced

Seasonings and Herbs:

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

2 tablespoons minced parsley

1 teaspoon dried sweet basil

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon sea salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add minced garlic, diced onions, and green pepper. Sauté for 4-5 minutes until the onions are softened.

  • Add ground chuck to the pot and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks (7-8 minutes). Season with salt and pepper.

  • Stir in diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  • Add garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, basil, Italian seasoning, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

  • Lower the heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add a splash of water or broth if the sauce thickens too much.

  • Serve the sauce over spaghetti or your favorite pasta. Garnish with extra parsley or Parmesan, if desired.

Notes

For a richer flavor, simmer the sauce for an hour or more.

Add extra veggies like mushrooms, zucchini, or carrots to the sauce for more flavor.

For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or fresh chili peppers.

For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey, chicken, or sausage for the ground chuck.
