Ingredients
Egg Mixture
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 5 eggs
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ¼ teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
Roll-Ups
- 8 Pillsbury crescent rolls (1 can)
- 2 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
- 8 turkey breakfast sausages, fully cooked
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the roll-ups.
- Prepare Egg Mixture: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Beat together the 5 eggs, flour, salt, and pepper, then pour into the skillet. Cook, stirring gently, until the eggs are softly scrambled but still moist. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare Crescent Rolls: Unroll the Pillsbury crescent roll dough and separate into 8 individual triangles on a clean surface.
- Assemble Roll-Ups: On each crescent triangle, layer a cooked turkey sausage, a spoonful of scrambled eggs, and a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Roll and Seal: Carefully roll up each crescent from the wide end to the narrow tip, encasing the fillings. Press the edges to seal so the filling does not leak out during baking.
- Egg Wash: Brush the top of each roll-up with the beaten egg to give a glossy, golden finish when baked.
- Bake: Place the roll-ups on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and puffed.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm for a satisfying breakfast.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or chopped jalapeños to the egg mixture.
- You can substitute the turkey sausage with pork or chicken sausage as preferred.
- To make these vegetarian, omit the sausage and add sautéed vegetables like bell peppers and spinach.
- Ensure the sausage is fully cooked before assembling to avoid undercooked meat in the roll-ups.
- Use fresh grated cheddar cheese for best melting and flavor.
- These roll-ups can be wrapped individually and frozen; bake directly from frozen, adding a few minutes to the baking time.
