Ingredients
10 tomatillos, husked
1 small onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
2 jalapeño peppers, chopped
¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook tomatillos for 5–7 minutes until softened and slightly pale. Drain and let cool slightly.
- In a blender or food processor, combine tomatillos, onion, garlic, and jalapeños. Blend until smooth.
- Stir in chopped cilantro, then season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Chill before serving for best flavor, or serve immediately with your favorite dishes.
Notes
Roast the tomatillos, onion, garlic, and jalapeños under a broiler for a smoky version.
Add avocado for a creamy twist.
Mix in lime juice for extra brightness.
Use serrano peppers instead of jalapeños for more heat.
Add a pinch of cumin for earthy flavor.
