Ingredients
Ingredients
- 4 sheets of pre-rolled puff pastry, or 2 blocks of puff pastry
- 350 g Nutella (or your preferred amount)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Icing sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) to ensure it’s ready for baking the tart once assembled.
- Prepare the Puff Pastry: Place one sheet of puff pastry on parchment paper. Spread an even layer of Nutella over the sheet, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Layer the Second Sheet: Place the second puff pastry sheet directly on top of the Nutella-covered sheet. Repeat with Nutella and subsequent sheets until all 4 sheets are stacked with Nutella between each layer, ending with a puff pastry sheet on top without Nutella.
- Mark the Center: Place a small glass or bowl in the center of the stacked sheets and gently press to mark the center for reference.
- Cut the Sun Rays: Make 16 cuts evenly spaced around the dough from the edge of the glass to the edge of the dough, creating 16 strips.
- Twist the Strips: Take each pair of strips and twist them away from the center twice, then press the ends down to seal the shape. Repeat for all strips to form the sun pattern.
- Apply Egg Wash: Beat the egg and brush it gently over the surface of the puff pastry for a golden shine once baked.
- Bake: Transfer the tart on the parchment paper to a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool and Dust: Allow the tart to cool slightly before dusting with icing sugar for an elegant finish.
- Serve: Serve warm or at room temperature, pulling apart the twisted sections to enjoy the creamy Nutella inside with the flaky pastry.
Notes
- Ensure puff pastry is fully thawed before assembling to avoid tearing.
- You can customize the filling by adding slices of banana or hazelnuts under the Nutella layers.
- For a dairy-free version, use a vegan puff pastry and dairy-free chocolate spread.
- Use a sharp knife to make clean cuts for beautiful twists.
- Brush edges with egg wash to help seal the pastry properly.
