Ingredients
Dip Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cup olive salad, drained and divided (Boscoli Family brand recommended)
- 2 cups Italian blend cheese, shredded
- 1/4 lb deli salami, diced
- 1/4 lb capicola or substitute mortadella, diced
- 8 oz container olive cream cheese spread
- 2 tsp garlic powder
Bread Bowl
- 2 – 10 inch round Muffuletta bread loaves or substitute with Sourdough or Italian bread
- Olive oil for drizzling
Instructions
- Prepare the Bread Bowls: Slice the tops off each Muffuletta loaf. Hollow out the centers carefully to create two bread bowls, leaving enough bread thickness to hold the dip without leaking. Reserve the scooped out bread pieces for dipping or breadcrumbs.
- Mix the Dip: In a large bowl, combine drained olive salad (reserving approximately 1/4 cup for topping), Italian blend cheese, diced salami, diced capicola, olive cream cheese spread, and garlic powder. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly mixed and incorporated.
- Fill the Bread Bowls: Spoon the dip mixture evenly into each hollowed bread bowl. Smooth the tops so they are level.
- Top and Drizzle: Spread the reserved olive salad over the top of each filled bread bowl as a garnish. Drizzle olive oil lightly over the top to add moisture and shine.
- Serving: Serve the Muffuletta Dip immediately with leftover bread pieces for dipping, or refrigerate for up to 4 hours before serving for flavors to meld. This dip is best served chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
- For best results, use high-quality Italian deli meats.
- Olive cream cheese spread adds a creamy, tangy element – if unavailable, cream cheese mixed with chopped olives can be a substitute.
- Leftover hollowed bread pieces are perfect for dipping or toasting into crunchy croutons.
- This dip can be prepared ahead and refrigerated; bring to room temperature for best flavor before serving.
- If not serving in bread bowls, this dip works well in a ceramic or glass bowl served with crackers or sliced baguette.
