A vibrant and creamy Lemon Garlic Parmesan Shrimp Pasta recipe combining succulent shrimp with a rich, buttery garlic sauce tossed with linguini and finished with fresh lemon juice and parmesan cheese. Perfect for a flavorful family dinner ready in under an hour.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

Shrimp and Pasta

  • 1.5 pounds large shrimp (uncooked)
  • 16 oz linguini

Sauce and Seasonings

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 tablespoons butter (divided)
  • 1 cup white or yellow onion (chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons parsley (chopped)
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Aromatics: In a large saucepan or skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and melt two tablespoons of butter. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until tender and translucent, approximately 3 to 5 minutes.
  2. Add Spices: Sprinkle in the red pepper flakes and Italian seasoning. Cook for about one minute until the mixture becomes fragrant, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Place the shrimp into the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Cook the shrimp until it begins to turn pink and opaque, about 3 to 4 minutes per side depending on size.
  4. Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the prepared linguini pasta directly to the skillet with the shrimp. Then add the remaining four tablespoons of butter, chopped parsley, and parmesan cheese. Stir continuously until the butter and cheese melt, creating a creamy sauce that coats the pasta and shrimp thoroughly.
  5. Finish with Lemon: Drizzle in the lemon juice and toss everything together to evenly distribute the citrus brightness throughout the dish. Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed, then serve immediately.

Notes

  • For best results, use freshly grated parmesan cheese to enhance flavor and melting quality.
  • You may substitute linguini with spaghetti or fettuccine depending on preference.
  • To reduce spiciness, omit or reduce the red pepper flakes.
  • Ensure shrimp is deveined and peeled for best texture and ease of eating.
  • Reserve some pasta water if sauce needs thinning before mixing with pasta.
