No reviews

A no-fuss apple pie that forms its own crust while baking, combining tender cinnamon-spiced apples with a custardy filling and golden cake-like topping.

  • Total Time: 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes
  • Yield: 8 slices

Ingredients

6 apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced

3/4 cup granulated sugar

4 eggs

1/4 cup butter, melted

1 cup milk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  2. Arrange sliced apples evenly in the prepared dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, melted butter, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Add flour, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon; stir until just combined.
  5. Pour batter evenly over apples, letting it settle between slices.
  6. Bake for 45–55 minutes, until golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool slightly before slicing; serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Mix tart and sweet apples for balanced flavor.

Do not overmix the batter to keep the texture tender.

Serve with ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.

Can be made gluten-free with a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend.
