These Gluten Free Meatballs are a delicious and hearty dish perfect for those avoiding gluten. Made with ground beef, fresh herbs, and gluten free breadcrumbs, they deliver classic flavor and texture without compromise. Easy to prepare and versatile for serving with pasta, in a sub, or alongside your favorite sauce.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings (approximately 16 meatballs)

Ingredients

Meatball Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • ½ cup gluten free breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons marinara sauce
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix the Meatball Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, egg, fresh basil, fresh parsley, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, minced garlic, gluten free breadcrumbs, marinara sauce, and grated parmesan cheese. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the mixture to keep the meatballs tender.
  3. Form the Meatballs: Using your hands or a scoop, shape the mixture into evenly sized meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them spaced evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake the Meatballs: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the meatballs are browned and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F / 71°C).
  5. Serve: Remove the meatballs from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Serve hot with your favorite pasta, sauce, or as a delicious gluten free appetizer.

Notes

  • Using fresh herbs like basil and parsley adds bright, fresh flavor to the meatballs.
  • Ensure gluten free breadcrumbs are used to maintain the gluten free status of this recipe.
  • For extra moisture, adding marinara sauce directly to the mixture helps keep meatballs juicy.
  • You can make these meatballs ahead of time and freeze them for up to 3 months.
  • Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer to avoid under or overcooking.
